 !  Trianon Spring Concert

Saturday 12 April 2008, 7.30pm
St John's Church, Cauldwell Hall Road, Ipswich, Suffolk

Trianon Music Group welcomes back Chris Phelps as Guest Conductor, in a programme that starts with one of the most energetic of motets by Bach, followed by one of Dvorak's most popular symphonies.  Often overshadowed by the New World Symphony (No.9), the D Minor Symphony was premiered in London and is recognised to be one of the finest of the composer's nine symphonies.

Brahms' A German Requiem is unique for it does not follow the normal familiar pattern of those composed in the Catholic tradition.  Brahms selected the text himself as a universal text.  This is a powerful tribute to the composer's mother.  In the title, the word 'German' only refers to the original language for, as Brahms said, he would willingly have called it 'A Human Requiem'.

Bach Motet - O Praise the Lord
Dvorak - Symphony No.7 in D minor, B 141
Brahms - A German Requiem, Op45
